Attention Noida, Greater Noida Commuters: Vehicles Without HSRP Plates Will be Slapped With Rs 5,000 Penalty
Noida Traffic Guidelines: Out of the 10 lakh registered vehicles in Noida, over 4.7 lakh are new and already come equipped with High-Security Registration Plates (HSRPs), while 3.3 lakh older vehicles have been updated to the new plates.
Attention Noida commuters: If your vehicle is not fitted with a High-Security Registration Plate (HSRP), you may face a penalty of Rs 5,000. As per the transport department, more than 8 lakh vehicles in Noida now have HSRPs. This enforcement follows the deadline for HSRP installation, which ended on February 15. Vehicles without these plates are now being fined Rs 5,000.
Out of the total registered vehicles, over 4.7 lakh new vehicles have HSRPs installed, and 3.3 lakh older vehicles have been upgraded to these plates. According to the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, all vehicles sold in India before April 01, 2019, must have HSRPs. Vehicles registered after this date already come with these plates.
HSRP registration number plates are tamper-proof and mandatory for all vehicles. They enhance security and reduce vehicle thefts.
However, there are still about two lakh vehicles in Noida and Greater Noida without HSRPs, according to GB Nagar Assistant Regional Transport Officer Siyaram Verma. He also noted that this number includes approximately 1.7 lakh end-of-life vehicles, which are registered but no longer in use. He urged vehicle owners to install HSRPs or scrap their end-of-life vehicles (ELVs).
The transport department is planning to conduct a drive and take action against vehicles that do not comply with the HSRP requirement.
