Goa Govt scouting for HSRP firm having unit in state
Panjim: Goa to Source Local Manufacturer for Affordable High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP)
In an effort to provide Goans with High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) at more affordable prices, the Goa State government is looking to partner with a company that has a manufacturing unit within the state. This initiative comes after criticism from the High Court, prompting the government to accelerate its plans. The goal is to begin the installation of HSRPs by the start of the upcoming financial year, ensuring that vehicles in the state comply with the mandated security standards while keeping costs low for residents.
The transport department initiated the tendering process for the installation of High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) on vehicles starting December 6. Tender documents were made available until December 23, with the final date for bid submission set for January 8, 2014. After this, the technical and financial bids will be reviewed to select the appropriate agency for the project.
A senior official from the secretariat confirmed that the government is eager to implement the HSRP scheme as soon as possible, given that more than three years have passed since the Supreme Court mandated the installation of HSRPs. The official noted that the entire tender process would likely take two to three months, with the goal of beginning HSRP installations at the start of the next financial year.
